The Bethel Empowerment & Wellness Center (BEWC) was born from a simple but powerful belief: communities thrive when residents have access to opportunity, resources, and a place where they belong.

    Located in the heart of Baltimore's Historic Marble Hill and Upton communities, BEWC is a transformative community hub dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals and families across West Baltimore. What was once a vacant and underutilized building has been reimagined into a vibrant center for economic empowerment, health and wellness, workforce development, arts and culture, financial education, and community engagement.

    Our roots trace back to the vision of Bethel A.M.E. Church and generations of community leaders who recognized the need for a welcoming space where residents could connect to services, build relationships, and create pathways to success. Through years of perseverance, strategic partnerships, and the support of local, state, federal, philanthropic, and private-sector partners, that vision became a reality.

    In June 2026, BEWC proudly opened its doors as a $4.1 million debt-free investment in West Baltimore's future. The Center serves as a beacon of hope and a catalyst for revitalization, bringing together nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, educational institutions, financial institutions, entrepreneurs, artists, and neighborhood residents under one roof.

    Today, BEWC is home to community partners providing health services, financial empowerment, workforce support, arts programming, small business development, and neighborhood revitalization initiatives. From helping families navigate critical resources to supporting entrepreneurs, preserving neighborhood history, and fostering community connections, every aspect of the Center is designed to empower people and strengthen communities.
