Line Dance Night
Maryland Medical Center Medical Van
On September 16th 2026, the Maryland Medical Center will be coming to BEWC. They will be providing routine check-ups and other health assessments for those who come. This a free service, so please come out and receive the care you may need.
The Time has come again! Community line dancing hosted by Dance Happens has started up once more. Bring yourself and a friend to, we are open to all ages. Have fun and learn the latest line dances!

Baltimore Healthy Start Open House
Baltimore Healthy Start warmly invites you to join us for our Open House on September 24, 2026, as we showcase our new West Side location and celebrate our return to having a physical office presence in West Baltimore.
This special gathering will be an opportunity to tour our new space, connect with our team and partners, and celebrate the continued commitment to supporting mothers, babies, fathers, and families throughout our community.

Baltimore Healthy Start Diaper Giveaway
On July 29, 2026, Baltimore Healthy Start hosted a free diaper giveaway for anyone in the community. Distributing diapers for all ages along with wipes and lotions. The event took place in the community center at BEWC. Baltimore Healthy Start will be continuing their community outreach events like the free diaper giveaway. Check the BEWC calendar for events as they get planned.
DOT Listening Session & 311 Requests
On July 28, 2026, the Bethel Empowerment and Wellness Center hosted the Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT).
The representatives from DOT emphasized the importance of submitting 311 requests. View the flyer for how. Once you submit your 311 request related to a problem in the community email BEWC with your confirmation code so we can follow-up on your behalf.

The Second Episcopal District Summer's Summit
On July 6, 2026, Rev. Jules Dunham Howie, Director of the Bethel Empowerment & Wellness Center (BEWC), had the distinct honor of addressing the bishops, presiding elders, pastors, and leaders of the Second Episcopal District of the AME Church during the Bishop's Meeting.
During the presentation, Rev. Howie unveiled the BEWC Technical Assistance Hub, an exciting new initiative designed to strengthen churches by providing comprehensive technical assistance, capacity-building support, grant development, and access to financial resources.
The presentation aligned with Bishop Seawright's vision to establish Empowerment Hubs—a strategic initiative focused on equipping congregations with the tools, partnerships, and expertise needed to expand their ministries, revitalize their communities, and advance sustainable economic and community development.
The response from church leadership was overwhelmingly positive, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter of collaboration that will empower congregations across the Second Episcopal District to transform vision into lasting impact. Include the picture with us in a small format.
Baltimore Vacants Reinvestment Initiative (BVRI)
On July 1, 2026, the Bethel Empowerment and Wellness Center was recongnized as a recipeient of the BVRI Fund.
The BVRI Fund is a partnership between the state of Maryland and the city of Baltimore aimed at reducing the number of vacant homes within baltimore communites. This fund has awarded BEWC with 2 million dollars to invest into community, for the renavation of vacant homes.
Neighborhood Walk
On Tuesday June 30th, 2026, Historic Marble Hill will have a multiagency walk. The Mayor’s Office, City Administrator Faith Leach, and agency partners will walk the neighborhood and hear directly from residents. This is an important opportunity to highlight both the challenges and the tremendous potential of Historic Marble Hill. This event hilghlights City’s willingness to engage residents on issues such as public safety, loitering, illegal dumping, litter, and other quality-of-life concerns that impact the community every day. Plan to participate!
Dance Happens Summer Camp
Hosted by Dance Happens one of our partners, this camp will take place over this summer for dancers and aspiring dancers. Multiple different forms of dance will be taught by qualified instructors. If your child is interested in Dance, visit the Dance Happens website for more information.

A interactive workshop learning about how to apply for money from the Maryland state goverenment to facilitate Church Repairs.
Historic Marble Hill Community Meeting
These meetings take place every third Tuesday of the month and are listed on the calendar. Each month a different agenda is proposed to help the community grow and make decisions concerning the communities future. These meetings are open to the public and members of the community are encouraged to come.
